We had the opportunity to spread the word about falls prevention during the NSW Seniors Festival this week.

The NSW Seniors Festival celebrate the role and contributions of older adults to their communities, and opens connection pathways between older adults and local businesses and community groups. The NSW Seniors Expo is one part of the Festival, bringing together individuals, businesses and community groups across two days.
At the Expo, we had the pleasure of speaking with The Hon Kevin Anderson MP, NSW Shadow Minister for Seniors and Member for Tamworth, about falls prevention and the importance of strong, evidence-based action to support healthy ageing. We’d also like to say a big thank you to Strive Motion for representing Falls Prevention Alliance Australia during the expo.

Ima Strkljevic, one of our dedicated Community Ambassadors, delivered a series of falls prevention talks to local community groups during the NSW Seniors Festival.
Ima gave presentations to:
Cumberland Council
Lismore Rotary and District Clubs (Lismore and Ballina)
The View (Voice, Interests and Education of Women), Lennox Head
These sessions helped raise awareness about practical ways older adults can reduce their risk of falls and stay active, independent and confident.
These community presentations were made possible through funding from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice via the NSW Seniors Festival Grant Program.
Events like this are a great opportunity to connect with older Australians, share practical information about strength and balance exercises, and raise awareness about how we can all reduce the risk of falls.
